Futsal Copa del Rey 2024, Final Four Clash and Road to Glory

The Copa del Rey has entered its final phase, adopting a final four format. The competition commenced with 78 teams spanning from the First Division to the Third. This intense journey culminated in the identification of the four semi-finalists, who are set to converge at a single venue to determine the ultimate winner. The participating teams, namely Peñíscola, Betis, Jimbee Cartagena, and Jaén, have earned their spots in the final four of the 2024 Copa del Rey futsal.

Peñíscola and Jimbee, the only repeaters from the previous season, demonstrated their prowess once again.

Peñíscola’s remarkable quarterfinal performance included a thrilling 4-3 victory over Barça, highlighted by Juanqui’s heroic efforts. Trailing 2-3 with just 30 seconds remaining, Juanqui scored the equalizing goal, seemingly pushing the match into extra time. However, with only 3 tenths left, he secured another goal, sparking jubilation in the Juan Vizcarro stands.

Jimbee Cartagena faced a penalty shootout against Quesos Hidalgo Manzanares after a 1-1 tie in regulation time. Chispi’s crucial save against Cortés in the initial attempt set the tone for a flawless shootout, resulting in a 5-4 victory for the Cartagena team, who also reached the final last year. In other qualifying rounds, Betis triumphed over Mallorca 3-2, while Jaén eliminated Xota with a narrow 4-3 victory. Each match was closely contested, with the home team emerging victorious in all instances.

The stage is set for the final four of the Copa del Rey futsal, scheduled for May 18 and 19, 2024. The tournament venue and matchups remain undecided, pending a draw. Fans can catch the Copa del Rey futsal action on FEF TV, a subscription-based platform that also broadcasts all First Division matches of the National Futsal League. The possibility of televised matches on free-to-air channels, such as Teledeporte or regional channels like 7RM (known for broadcasting Jimbee Cartagena matches), is yet to be confirmed, akin to the 2022/23 season edition.
