Karmine Corp removed three players from its reserve roster during the team’s match against Fnatic to qualify for Masters Madrid.
Karmine Corp exceeded expectations in the EMEA Kickoff by sweeping the Play-In stage and beating Fnatic 2-0, securing qualification for the first international event of the year. They are set to face Team Heretics in the Grand Final on March 1, determining the first seed at Masters Madrid.
Despite recent success, Karmine Corp struggled in the inaugural season of the new franchised VCT, finishing at the bottom of the leaderboard and failing to qualify for events beyond the initial one in São Paulo.
During the offseason, Karmine Corp revamped its roster, recruiting four new players while retaining most of its former players in the reserve roster. However, as the team approaches its first tournament since joining the VCT, they have decided to part ways with those former members.
KARMINE CORP DITCHES FORMER VALORANT STARS
The automated Twitter/X account for VCT contracts updated the status of three core players from Karmine Corp’s previous team. This included the duo brothers ScreaM and Nivera, critical contributors to Team Liquid’s success before joining Karmine Corp in 2023.
“Match was so easy they had time to cut the washed CS pros,” commented one Twitter/X user on February 29, 2024.
Similar sentiments were expressed by other commenters, stating that Karmine Corp no longer needed the players after qualifying.
“This is what was holding KC back all this time,” remarked another user.
While ScreaM, Nivera, and XMS were still under contract, they were not seen in practices or official matches after the off-season. However, ScreaM did express support for the newly formed roster before the team’s debut in the Play-Ins.
