Royal Football Federation of Madrid Unveils Visionary Sports City Project in Torrejón de Ardoz

The Royal Football Federation of Madrid has unveiled the proposal for the New Sports City of the RFFM. A plan that received unanimous approval during the Extraordinary General Assembly. Site for this ambitious project will be in the town of Torrejón de Ardoz, featuring a 75-year demanial concession. The realization of this dream, long harbored by the former President Paco Dez, is set to unite football within a singular, comprehensive facility.

Following a thorough presentation and discussion, the Assemblies unanimously endorsed the construction of the new Sports City of the Royal Football Federation of Madrid in the municipality of Torrejón de Ardoz. Complete with a 75-year demanial concession.

The newly proposed Sports City, approved by the sovereign body of Madrid football on February 8, 2024, aims to provide futsal with a state-of-the-art venue. This facility will enable the teams to conduct training sessions, host technical training programs, and offer suitable classrooms and offices.

A highly comprehensive complex.

The financing for the project is secured through the sale of the property on Poeta Joan Maragall Street. A former headquarters of the Madrid Indoor Football Federation. Additional funding will come from the Treasury as a result of the merger with the RFFM and the sale of FEMAFUSA’s premises on Blasco de Gara Street.

This project will also benefit other branches of the Royal Madrid Football Federation, including beach soccer. Torrejón de Ardoz City Council will contribute to the Sports City by constructing an 11-a-side football field parallel to the federation’s, with shared stands and locker rooms resembling the Ernesto Cotorruelo fields.

The construction will occur in two phases. The first phase involves the establishment of an indoor futsal sports pavilion comprising two courts, offices, training rooms, a bar-cafe, warehouse, and laundry. This phase is estimated to be completed by the last quarter of 2025. Additionally, one or two beach soccer fields, bathrooms, and urbanization are scheduled for completion in the first quarter of 2027.

The second phase includes the construction and initiation of an 11-a-side football field and a 7-a-side football field, along with the development of complementary facilities such as stands, roofing, changing rooms, and the RFFM museum. This phase is expected to be completed within a maximum period of 60 months from the commencement of the concession.
