After two consecutive defeats, Benfica is back to its winning ways in the championship. In a game counting for the 13th round of the Liga Placard, the Eagles hosted ADCR Caxinas and put an end to the crisis with a 5-0 victory.
The aim was off in the last two matches, but that wasn’t the case here. The Reds came in hungry to take the lead early and, after several threats, Diego Nunes made the pavilion erupt for the first time with a low shot that found the back of the net.
After the goal, the game entered a more heated period with a few fouls. Especially when the home team was trying to control the pace of the match. However, the Eagles never took their eyes off the opposing goal, and in the 11th minute, Higor de Souza scored the second.
At a disadvantage, Caxinas tried to react, but the team had difficulty creating finishing moves. In response, Silvestre Ferreira scored his debut in the championship with a well-worked set piece, leading Benfica to a 3-0 lead at halftime.
NO ROOM FOR RESPONSE
Not satisfied with the result, the team led by Mário Silva returned from the locker room hungry for more. Some details prevented the advantage from expanding even further, but Rocha made sure that nothing came between him and the goal when he sent an authentic bomb into the back of the net.
About two minutes later, Diego Nunes recovered the ball in the high zone and, after combining with Ivan Chishkala in the attack, scored twice in the match. After that, the red team went into management mode and guaranteed a return to their winning ways.
With this triumph, Benfica remained in third place in the championship, with 27 points won. ADCR Caxinas, on the other hand, fell to sixth place, with 18 points.
