At 38, the seasoned winger is in his debut season with Riga FC in Latvia. With ten goals in nine games, Ricardinho reflects on recent career choices, particularly over the past three years.
“In Indonesia, the primary aim wasn’t winning the title but aiding the club’s growth. Riga’s offer arose, aiming for the Champions League and the final four,” he shared with Spanish newspaper Brand.
Reflecting on his absence from the national team, he stands by his decisions. “You yearn for major competitions, but I believe I made the right choice. My body needed it, and it was the right moment to step back. It was tough, painful, but it was best for everyone.”
Regarding his career’s finale, Ricardinho hinted, “If not [at the end of] this season, then surely the next. Psychologically drained, my body craves rest. I’d play until 50, but it’s time to give back to futsal what it’s given me and savor the game.”
