Candidate (not yet formal) for the presidency of FC Porto, André Villas-Boas, inadvertently revealed undisclosed information: the potential inclusion of futsal within the Dragons’ structure. During an interview with Jornal de Notícias, the former coach of the blue and whites outlined his plans, indicating the intention to establish a high-performance center near the current Olival training center. This proposed facility would cater to the needs of professional teams, encompassing the main team, B team, and under-19s. Additionally, Villas-Boas highlighted the inclusion of a pavilion to accommodate various sports, particularly aiming for the growth and integration of futsal in the future.
It’s worth noting that this subject has long been a topic of discussion within the blue and white family. However, during Pinto da Costa’s presidency, no significant progress was made in this regard. In the club’s last elections in 2020, candidate Nuno Lobo had pledged to establish a futsal team but was unsuccessful in securing the presidency.
