On Saturday, Eléctrico secured a crucial victory concluding the first round of the Liga Placard. The Ponte de Sor team, facing a challenging season, closed the initial half of the competition with a home win against Caxinas (5-3).
In a fiercely contested match, Eléctrico dominated, and the score changed only in the latter part of the first half. Simi Saiotti, after a display of individual skill, scored past Rui Pedro, opening the scoring.
This goal was a deserved reward for João Freitas Pinto’s team’s excellent performance in the first half. However, Caxinas capitalized on a set piece to level the score. Eskerda’s shot fell short, and Márcio Moreira capitalized on it. Nevertheless, moments later, Simi Saiotti, showcasing individual brilliance once more, placed the ball at the far post for Tiago Cruz to tap in.
Although Eléctrico held a narrow advantage, it was fair considering the host’s performance. Yet, an error in a restricted area led to Caxinas equalizing 2-2, courtesy of Bruninho’s goal in the 25th minute. Ponte de Sor’s team responded again, with Simi Saiotti converting from the penalty spot to complete a brace. However, two minutes later, Raul Moreira netted a third goal, leveling the score at 3-3 following a good link-up play with João Miguel.
With the game wide open in the last ten minutes, Eléctrico persisted and were eventually rewarded. Showing tremendous determination, the Alentejo team relentlessly pursued a winning goal, which they found in the 38th minute with a superb strike from Ferrugem. Caxinas then initiated a 5×4+GR, striving for another draw, but an early loss of possession during the numerical advantage gifted Simi Saiotti his third goal.
After the first round, Eléctrico climbs to eighth place with 12 points, securing a playoff spot. Meanwhile, Caxinas maintains a steady fourth position with 18 points.
